Inner Basin camping

Postby nickcote » August 20th, 2013, 3:21 pm

Hello all,

I'm trying to find out if it's OK to camp in the Inner Basin during the winter. I've got half the Flagstaff Ranger District scratching their heads about it while they wait for their "wilderness guy" to get back in a few days (from the wilderness, I presume). While I trust that eventually they might come up with an answer, in the meantime I thought I'd ask here if anyone has done any overnight trips there. I found a post in this forum that said it is OK, but it's from three years ago so I'm looking for more current info. Thanks in advance, and I hope everyone's enjoying their summer.

I've seen people camping up there in winter. I could not find the no camping boundary map on the usfs web... the idea is to keep from pooping near the wells, caped springs and pipes... I've camped very near the green cabins in winter only about a 10 min skin into the ib...

I've yet to get a reply from the FS... it seems no one there knows what the boundaries of the inner basin are exactly.
