Backcountry permit and Buried Beacon?

Postby kylef41 » December 22nd, 2012, 12:41 pm

Will backcountry permits be available at snowbowl next week? It would also be nice if there was a buried beacon for practice. I'm heading to snowbowl Wednesday the 26th so my son can take an all day lesson and it would be nice to get some prep done for the season.

I am not too sure, but I think that the Forest Service will only be up there on weekends. You can stop in at the Forest Service Office in town and get your backcountry permit. It only takes a few minutes. You can always ask ski patrol where their "practice beacon" is buried.

Topbud is correct the USFS is usually up on the weekends on Agassiz Lodge from 9 to 11 am. You can also stop by any of the USFS offices and pick one up.....We are currently looking for a new location for our Beacon Basin Stay tuned for more info and feel free to stop in Top Patrol for info.
