Re: Observations after snowpocalypse II

Better outreach and education opportunities geared to 16-24/yr olds is my guess. BTW, what was the age group of those rescued?

Re: Alison Clay Avalanche - Saturday Jan 14th

Crust/ice was above fracture in failed ECT test. This is consistent with what we have been seeing in the dual crust/facet sandwich formed from DEC 16 crust (lower, clear/smooth ice crust) and the DEC 24 crust (Upper, muddled, rain/melt/freeze/rime/crappy wx). The upper crust is variable in hardness...

Re: Strange result in temptation trees...

What we observed on Friday, 6 JAN in the same area were significant variations of stability based on ridge/drainage features and cross-loading towards the tail end of the last storm as the wind switched around out of the N/NE. Lens-like wind slabs had formed in dune-like structures.....leaving scour...

Kevin, With all due respect....never ask another to take it upon themselves to watch out for you. The first thing you will learn in the decision making process is this: You make the decisions. Where you worked has nothing to do with it. I'm sure there are plenty of folks that are/will be willing to ...

I don't think we need a different forum to discuss equipment since the volume of subjects is light. With that being said.....I echo BJ's comments.....Practice is key. Re: Winter ascent of the 6 AZ highpoints

So I was thinking... has the 6 tallest named points in AZ seen a one-day winter ascent? Human powered winter ascent starting in downtown Flagstaff and hitting Humphreys, Abineau, Rees, Doyle, Fremont then Agassiz and returning back downtown in less than 24 hours... Doable? maybe. just thinking out-...

The IB "breathes in and out" throughout the day and is reflected in the morning and afternoon winds....if you look at the day to day data, there's a shift around 12-2pm where the wind comes in, vs. out of the basin during the day....or vice versa. I can't remember how it went and since I'm...
